2010 SEASON OVERVIEW
Monadnock Music returns in 2010 to both the Town House in Peterborough and the Jaffrey Center Meetinghouse, and to the many churches and town halls across the region where our free concerts have always taken place. Look for another year of music ranging from Bach to the present day: chamber music, songs, concertos and quite a bit more, performed by our superbly gifted musicians. In addition to the ticketed series previewed below, this year’s free concerts will have two exciting summer-long projects:
- Mozart Trail: following last year’s popular Beethoven trail, we’ll perform one of Mozart’s incomparable string quintets- each one a unique and wondrous work- every week in free concerts. These are among the most profound pieces in the repertoire and will offer any who wish to follow the trail a stirring musical journey over the course of the summer.
- Song a Week: each week, a new song composed for Monadnock Music’s 2010 season, set to poetry by past fellows of the MacDowell Colony. The poets have contributed work that was inspired by their experiences in the Monadnock Region. Composer and poets will be at the concerts to share thoughts on their collaboration, one that has roots in our towns, fields, and forests!
